Fuck you. Christian Krohg was a dude and does not deserve this treatment. The guy highlighted the plight of the poor and the dispossessed in his art.
Just one (famous) case from wikipedia:
“Krohg had made several earlier paintings based on the fate of the unmarried seamstress ”Albertine”, who eventually is forced into prostitution due to the social system of the time. He also explored the subject in the novel Albertine, written in 1886.[3][4] The debate following the publishing and confiscation of the novel expedited the abolition of public prostitution in Norway.[5]”
The cops in Oslo were complicit in the prostitution racket - and he exposed them and faced them down. Do you get it? He’s not the pompous establishment figure you think he is.
people’s level of ignorance is astonishing. even worse is the fact that no one appears to question anything and take everything on blind faith. oh it’s on the interwebs so it must be true. and if it seems like the cool thing to do, truth and fact don’t really matter much anyway.
I guess some people are unfamiliar with Banksy’s sayings “If you want someone to be ignored, then build a life-size bronze statue of them and stick it in the middle of town.It doesn’t matter how great you were, it’ll always take an unfunny drunk with climbing skills to make people notice you.” and “If you have a statue in the city centre, you could go past it every day on your way to school and never even notice it, right - but as soon as someone puts a traffic cone on its head, you’ve made your own sculpture.”](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lwiky30NWE1qio4tio1_1280.jpg)
